Mix two relatively harmless compounds like nitro and glycerine, and you've got yourself a very potent combination, just like in the case of the titled Englishman, Lord Brett Sinclair, and the Bronx-raised, self-made American Danny Wilde. Joined into an improbable team by a not-so-unexpected bar brawl and the ingeniousness of the retired Judge Fulton, the two men of immense quality and potential are off to search for loopholes overlooked and to redress one of the anomalies of the law, that is in protecting the innocent, the guilty often go free too. Sometimes rivals, sometimes allies, nevertheless, always companions, Lord Brett, the noble, first-class athlete and artistic polyglot, and Danny, the irrepressible, optimistic and courageous oil tycoon, together they are bound to get the job done. Who could stand in the way of such an unlikely but powerful alliance? Tony Curtis plays Tony Curtis and Roger Moore plays Roger Moore, and the best moments are when they squabble. Moore's style is derived from The Saint (hint: "Sinclair" is an old family associated with the Templars), Curtis gets into his "brash fast talking Brooklyn kid who made it" character with zeal (hint: "Danny Wilde"), and The Avengers contribute various writers, directors and producers. The plots are secondary but click along nicely. The women are eye candy with brains and guts. The music is great: theme by John Barry (many James Bond moves, "Born Free" amid a long career) , Music Supervision by Don Kirshner and the production values are solid. Few extras but the two commentaries, made 30 years later for the DVD, are okay. The Persuaders is a buddy crime show, like I Spy or It Takes A Thief, and it works for you if you like the characters. It works for me. (Too bad it didn't work for Curtis and Moore, who are reputed to hate working with each other, hence the cancellation.) First broadcast in 1971 and made by ITC the brain child of Sir Lew Grade, an action adventure series of 24 episodes with a strong comedy between the two main characters played by Tony Curtis and Roger Moore.<br/><br/>Lord Brett Sinclair played by Roger Moore the aristocratic wealth lord oozing and Tony Curtis as Danny Wild the rough Diamond from the Bronx a New York a streetwise self made Millionaire definitely something special. It according to a comment made by co-star Tony Curtis emulated the two main stars true character more than anything else they ever did! Comments made by Tony Curtis "Do you know what Roger and I are? Look at the persuaders, look at every one of those episodes and you will see what the relationship is and you will truly see what we are". Superb location through out Europe with glamorous women and fast cars (Aston Martin and Dino Ferrari) made this a classic not to be missed.<br/><br/>An enormous success in Europe, England, plans, staying, it really, and Germany all named it best telecast. Tony Curtis received A Bambi for it and the same in England, and the French Teli 7 Jours best actor award of 1971 It is my favourite programme of all time and I loved it when I was a 12-year-old boy, and still do as a 40-year-old boy!
